Vision A peaceful community in which tolerance, mutual respect and cooperation allow people of diverse racial and economic backgrounds to live together as neighbors.
Focus The focus--to assist individuals, families and groups in their struggle to survive economic, social, health and emotional crises and to support growth toward self-sufficiency
Core Goals To integrate social, health, youth and group programs to provide holistic services. To support neighbors through home visits. To break down barriers created by poverty, isolation, fear and prejudice. To recognize and promote the dignity of each person in the community. To be hopeful and witness God's love for all people.
Annual Activities At Midtown include The Family Christmas Program, The Community Health Workshop, The Family Fun Fair, The “not so scary” Halloween Health Fair and Family Fun Night. Also, monthly health luncheons bring “experts” and resources into the community.
Clients Served Midtown serves families and children who have income under the federal poverty guidelines ($22,600 for a family of four) and who live in one of eight St. Louis city neighborhoods—Compton Heights, Forest Park Southeast, Fox Park, The Gate District, McRee Town, Shaw, Southwest Garden and Tiffany
Summer Academy Day Camp
More than 100 children, teens and adults came together for six weeks this summer to build a peaceful community. Summer Academy Day Camp is supported through “scholarships”, grants and family fees. Scholarships come from the St. Louis community and insure all the children and teens are able to attend. A special treat this year was a visit by the World Bird Sanctuary whose owls, hawks and ravens “flew” through Midtown.
Michelob Ultra Charity Classic
Join nearly 200 golfers to support Midtown at the 18th annual Michelob Ultra Charity Classic on Monday, October 11, 2010. Played at the Country Club of St. Alban’s and sponsored by Anheuser-Busch this tournament has the added fun of having former Baseball Cardinals as golfers. For more information see Midtown’s website at www.midtowncc.org for a registration form or call 314-534-1180.
