We are grateful to have been doing this for many years.” Theresa Ruzicka, President of Catholic Charities also said of the community support, “these contributions confirm the generosity of the people and business community in the St. Louis region in times of urgent need and throughout the year.”
Catholic Charities of St. Louis took part in a Multi-Agency Resource Center (MARC) for people affected by the tornado Saturday March 4, 2017, bringing donated supplies and information to them. Colleen Smyth, Project Assistant, was one of several Catholic Charities representatives talking with individuals and families about the help our federation of eight agencies can provide. Smyth said she was overwhelmed by the community support at the MARC and added, “It is such a vulnerable time especially when one doesn’t even know where to start to begin in rebuilding, but I am grateful that we can walk with these families and take steps forward.”
Since the disaster, Catholic Charities has received significant support from individuals and business owners in the St. Louis community. St. Louis based Office Essentials donated cleaning supplies, paper towels, fleece blankets and more. Jeff Suchanek, Strategic Business Development Manager of Office Essentials said, “In just a few hours, we all came together to donate a variety of items that would come in handy for these families.” In addition, Modern Litho a St. Louis based printing company donated signage that was used at the MARC. Skip Bray, General Manager, Modern Litho said in making the donation, “We are thankful for organizations like Catholic Charities that are always on the front lines to help victims like those affected by the Perryville tornado.”
