Launched in 2016 as an initiative of Catholic Charities of St. Louis and the main partner agency, St. Francis Community Services, Pathways to Progress strengthens families by creating a pathway for them to increase their ability to live safe, productive and sustainable lives; to educate and empower families to make effective decisions that positively impact their future; and to advocate for systemic and progressive change.

Pathways to Progress provides families with sustained, holistic, and intense support and services for two to four years versus a short-term, band-aid approach that does not lead to lasting change. We are partnering with two prominent universities to evaluate the initiative to determine best practices and monitor outcomes.

Financial education and asset-building services give financially stressed participants the knowledge and tools to save money, reduce debt and build good credit. Work readiness workshops enable the unemployed to enter the workforce, maintain employment, and increase their income to provide for their family.

Families are connected to resources that enhance individual strengths, develop skills, and build financial assets which lead families out of poverty.
