Each month, two Catholic Charities of St. Louis Federation employees nominated by their peers are recognized for exemplifying Personal Excellence, a Spirit of Servant Leadership, and the Catholic Charities Mission. The honorees for August 2019 are…
Good Shepherd Children & Family Services Site Maintenance Mickey Raftery

Mickey’s grateful colleagues call him the backbone of their building and way-more-than-our-maintenance-man. In addition to displaying superhero-level handyman skills, Mickey is known for jumping in wherever else extra help is needed, such as picking up donations or feeding hungry golfers at the annual fundraiser. Nominators described Mickey as a generous man who understands the true meaning of teamwork and compassion and who hasn’t met a challenge he wasn’t willing to tackle.
Cardinal Ritter Senior Services Payroll Coordinator Kathy Hitchell

Kathy is known for being mission-focused, professional, friendly, and both a lifelong learner and an excellent teacher. Her sense of humor spreads joy in the workplace, as does her willingness to break from her work to listen when a colleague has a personal burden. Kathy was recently entrusted with taking the lead role in the Archdiocese of St. Louis human resources information system (HRIS) integration project. Cardinal Ritter Senior Services is among the first Catholic Charities agencies moving to the new platform.
