Three local advocates will present a closer look at public policy and Church teaching on social justice at “From the Border to Your Backyard: A Catholic Response to the Immigrations & Healthcare Crises” on Saturday, September 28, 9 am to noon at Ascension Catholic Church (230 Santa Maria Dr., Chesterfield MO 63005).
Catholic Charities of St. Louis Director of Advocacy & Community Engagement Tamara Kenny will address healthcare issues. Attorney Kris Wallentik from Catholic Legal Assistance Ministry (part of St. Francis Community Services, a Catholic Charities federated agency) will address immigration issues. Marie Kenyon, Director of the Archdiocese of St. Louis’ Peace and Justice Commission, will discuss how Catholic Social Teaching applies specifically to these two important areas.
